Areas of expertise

A hernia appears as a lump, most commonly in the abdominal or groin area. It occurs when an organ, often the bowel, protrudes through the cavity which normally contains it.

Haemorrhoids, also known as piles, are a common condition. They can cause pain, itching and bleeding, and may form one or more small lumps just outside the anal margin.

Rectal bleeding is a symptom of many different conditions, some more serious than others. It’s important to find the cause of your rectal bleeding.

Colonoscopy is a visual inspection of the large intestine carried out using a telescope. Abnormalities can be sampled and polyps can be removed from the lining of the bowel.

Abdominal pain is discomfort arising from internal organs, muscles or other tissues inside the abdominal cavity. Consult a specialist if the pain is persistent or recurrent.

An anal fissure is a crack or tear in the lining of the anal canal. It’s a common cause of anal pain and rectal bleeding, especially during bowel movements.

Mr Lamah is a fantastic consultant, he saved my mother’s life twice from bowel cancer and is the reason I still have her with me today at 88yrs old. I have complete trust with Mr Lamah and would absolutely recommend him to anyone.

Dr Lamah has been consultative, clear and kind throughout my initial consultations, the day of operation itself and in answering my questions via email pre and post surgery. I felt very well taken care of and that asking questions was not a nuisance.

Mark Lamah listened carefully to my explanation for the visit and after inspecting my hernia diagnosed the problem and said it needed operating on. He fully explained what was involved in the surgery, the options and the risks. I came away feeling very satisfied.
